North Campus Ben-Gurion University

2012-2013

Be'er Sheva, Israel

This noteworthy project is a competition entry for a long-term urban development strategy for the northern expansion of Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel, a collaboration between Itzhaki Architects and Lerman Architects that secured Third Place. The master plan for this academic and residential district was envisioned to be a model of sustainable desert design, emphasizing pedestrian movement, passive climate strategies, and seamless integration with the surrounding desert landscape. The plan included a full program of student and faculty housing, academic buildings, public spaces, and green infrastructure across the campus expansion.
